meet barbara wilson
Barbara Wilson is the founder and Director of Working With Cancer. She is a senior HR professional with over 40 years’ experience at Catlin Group Ltd, Schroders, Barclays and Price Waterhouse.
In 2005, after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Barbara set up a group to help those people affected by cancer to return successfully to work. Working with Cancerbackup the group produced the first guidelines for employers, employees and carers on how to manage work and cancer. From 2008 to 2010, as part of the National Cancer Survivorship Initiative, she chaired a team developing ‘work and cancer’ support tools for employees, employers, carers and health professionals.
In 2014 after attending the School for Social Entrepreneurs, Barbara launched Working With Cancer as a Social Enterprise providing coaching, training and consultancy services to employers, employees, carers and health professionals.
Barbara trained as a coach at Ashridge, works occasionally as a trainer for Macmillan Cancer Support and regularly speaks at national and local cancer conferences and events about the issues connected with and challenges of managing cancer in the workplace.
Barbara is married with two sons and lives near Hampton Court, in Surrey.

WWC supplies services throughout the UK to organisations and individuals affected by cancer. Services provided to commercial employers subsidise those for charities and private individuals.
Working With Cancer’s associate coaches and trainers are all cancer survivors or have been personally affected by cancer. They are also highly experienced professionals in their field.
