Helping you rebuild and renew your life after a serious health issue

An accredited coach, facilitator and adult learning specialist, Barbara supports people to rebuild and renew their lives after a serious health issue.

Through her experience of Transverse Myelitis in 2008 (a rare neurological auto-immune condition), training as a coach in 2009, and becoming a trustee of the Transverse Myelitis Society in 2010, Barbara discovered a passion for helping others create their ‘new normality’ after a life-changing health issue. Areas of focus with her clients commonly include learning to live in a changed body, managing symptoms, finding an emotional balance, enhancing relationships, developing meaningful careers, managing the impact of stress, reclaiming independence, redefine their life purpose, and supporting carers.

She holds a Master’s in coaching psychology, where her research focused on evaluating coaching’s impact on the wellbeing of people with neurological conditions and their primary caregivers, and was Chair of the TM Society from 2013 to 2016. This along with her 15 year background in corporate Learning & Development in professional services, Barbara has in-depth of experience helping adults make the change they want for themselves. She was also a carer for a loved one during a life-threatening medical crisis and their recovery so is very familiar with holding the roles of spouse and carer.

Barbara established Return to Wellness to enable individuals and their families navigate the many changes resulting from a serious health issue, create their ‘new normality’, and reclaim meaning and purpose in their lives through coaching and workshops. She also works with charities and support groups and supports organisations to help their employees successfully transition back to work.

Barbara lives in southwest London, enjoys cooking, reading, learning, great design, and kayaking on the Thames. You can connect with Barbara below.
